Introduction to Photography (Part 1)

This workshop is designed to help the beginner learn how to get the most out of their digital camera.  Let’s move from AUTO and progress to MANUAL mode. I’ll teach you simple yet powerful tricks that will take your photography to the next level!  Workshops start out at my home office and possibly move to an outside location weather permitting, bring water, snacks, clothing to fit the weather and a willingness to learn and have fun!

This workshop covers:

  • Aperture, learn the difference between shooting at F2.8 through F22
  • Shutter Speed, create tack sharp images or blur them with purpose
  • ISO, learn how to make ISO work for you
  • Understanding all those buttons on the back of your camera
  • Other digital camera basics that will advance your digital camera knowledge

Introduction to Photography (Part 2)

This workshop is for those that have an understanding of the basics Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO and want to take those skills and apply them.  We'll also be focusing on one of the most important factors in creating that perfect photo, the ability to control LIGHT.  By taking what you've learned about Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO you will start to understand how they work in correlation with each other to control the LIGHT in your photos.  At the end of this workshop you'll have the ability to take your camera out and start creating photos with confidence. Workshops start out at my home office and possibly move to an outside location weather permitting, bring water, snacks, clothing to fit the weather and a willingness to learn and have fun!

This workshop covers:

  • A quick overview of the basics covered in Introduction to Photography Part 1
  • Learning how LIGHT and the ability to harness and control LIGHT is key!
  • Bonus: What is Composition and how does it effect your photos

  • Landscape Photography: Learn how to take advantage of leading lines and compose the perfect shot. We will be exploring Colorado's beautiful back roads, experiencing beautiful scenery, seeing clouds that look as if nature brushed them her self and hopefully some of Colorado's 4 legged creatures.  Bring along your camera, lenses, tripod, ND filters and get ready to have fun learning and exploring Colorado's Front Range.
  • Water in Motion: Lets get creative and turn water into silky smooth art.  Learn about long exposures and ND filters.  This workshop is always a blast, we'll be taking in the beautiful scenery as we head to one of Colorado's many rivers, streams or waterfalls. Bring along your camera, lenses, tripod, ND and polarizer filters and get ready to have fun learning and exploring. 
  • Natural Light Portrait Photography: Natural light is all around us, but do you know how to control it, shape it or reflect it? We'll play with different apertures, shutter speeds, the sun, the shade, backgrounds, diffusers and reflectors.  Bring along your camera, lenses and get ready to open your eyes to natural light photography.
